Travel
     The Stowers Institute is approximately a 30-minute drive from the Kansas City International Airport. Driving directions are provided in a link on the meeting home page. For those of you not driving or hiring cars during your visit to Kansas City, there is a shuttle service (KCI Shuttle) that runs from the airport to downtown, midtown, and Plaza hotels. The Plaza area is the closest to the Stowers Institute and approximately a 20-minute walk. The cost of the airport shuttle is $14 one way and $24 round trip (prices subject to change). The shuttle does not need to be booked prior to arrival. There is a shuttle service desk located in one of the airport terminals and courtesy phones are located in all of the terminals to facilitate calling a shuttle.

Accommodation
     The Plaza (Country Club Plaza) is one of the main accommodation, shopping, bar, and dining areas in Kansas City and is only a short walk (20 minutes) to the Stowers Institute. We have contacted a number of hotels in the Plaza area (within reasonable walking distance) in order to provide you with a few accommodation options. Except for students requiring accommodation at Rockhurst University (see below) meeting participants are required to contact the hotels directly in order to book/reserve your accommodation. Please inform the hotel when booking that you will be part of the Biology meeting at the Stowers Institute.

     One of the closest hotels to the Stowers Institute. All homestead studios contain a full service kitchen. Fitness facilities at nearby health clubs are available at no cost to guests.

The following rates are offered to meeting participants:
Queen studio      $64/night
2 Queen studio   $79/night

     The rates are based on single/double occupancy. Each additional person is $5 extra. Currently there are 35 rooms on hold and these will be available on a first come first serve basis until May 1, 2004.

     Approximately 25 places are on hold and preference will be given to students. These rooms must be booked by May 1. Rockhurst University is approximately a 10-minute walk south of the Stowers Institute and a map is located below.

If you are arriving Sunday, please come directly to the Stowers Institute to collect your key.

Check-out time is 12 p.m.. Please return your key, or you will be charged an additional $50.
